This 1960’s retrospective is a musical revue which recounts and examines many of the iconic events during this decade using its extraordinary music, news print and political speeches. Providing an opportunity to hear such classics as “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough,” “Downtown,” “My Girl,” “Stop in the Name of Love,” “Blowin’ In The Wind” and “Crying” (to name a few) will surely evoke memories, for many baby boomers, of a time when Space Exploration, Civil Rights, Vietnam, Woodstock, and Television were news worthy events and “flower power,” civil unrest, protests, political divisiveness, bell bottoms, and “make love not war” were “groovy.” “The Beat Goes On … ” is a nostalgic journey … at times heartbreaking … at times humorous but always seeking to deliver a realistic glimpse into the social and political issues of a time when sex, drugs and rock and roll “ruled.” It is quite possible that Generations X and Y may find an alarming reality when comparing their parents’ “past” to their “present.” After nearly 60 years, many of the same social and political issues then are still with us today … proving the more things change … they really do remain the same.
